Child Abuse Awareness Team
This organization, formed by Jesus Frietze and other citizens in 2002, needs your help and time.
CAAT was formed to educate the public and bring awareness of this horrific problem to the community. Last year alone, there were 2847 reports of child abuse, 1815 were investigated and 414 were substantiated. That is 414 too many.
It is up to US to end child abuse. It can't be solved overnight or by 6 or 7 individuals. WE need to report suspected child abuse to the authorities.
Remember, child abuse isn't just hitting or beating a child. It can be a number of things such as isolating a child, preventing a child from going to school, leaving them in an unsupervised situation, not giving them food or medical care, exposing a child to sexual activity or using that child for sexual pleasure, or verbally abusing the child.
Education of the public must happen through any and all avenues - the schools, our medical community, local media and government agencies.
Do you suspect child abuse? DO NOT BE AFRAID TO REPORT IT!! Call 1-800-797-3260. Post that number by your phone. Program it into your cell phone. Children are depending on us to protect them when they can't do it themselves.
