You've been hearing Mel talk about Rolling Thunder, also known as the Run To The Wall.
Here are some pictures from the 2003 event.  The skies are full of rain clouds, the streets are rain soaked but that doesn't keep the faithful away.

This last picture is from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.  Vets from all over gather after the 'parade' to hear speakers which range from authors to celebrities to members of the families of those still missing.

In the back of this truck is a 'tiger cage'.  It is a replica of the types of 'jails' used for our heroes.  Once at the Lincoln Memorial, veterans take turns sitting in this cage.  They sit in honor of their brothers and sisters who have not yet come home.
